What is Exercise Readiness

Exercise readiness turns your workout heart-rate data into a daily percentage that reflects how prepared your body is for training.

What is Exercise Readiness

Exercise readiness is a daily score (0–100%) that reflects how prepared your body is for physical activity. It is built from the heart-rate recordings captured during your workouts and updated as each session completes.

What It Measures

During every workout, your heart rate tells a story about how hard your body is working relative to its resting baseline and its estimated capacity. Yuelu combines three pieces of information from each workout:

  • How long your heart rate was elevated above resting levels
  • How high it rose relative to your personal range
  • How the intensity was distributed across the session

These are combined into a single workout load value. Daily totals then feed into two windows: a short-term view of recent activity and a longer-term view of your training habits.

Why It Needs Time

The system needs at least 14 days of data and 5 completed workout sessions before it can produce a reliable readiness score. During this initial period, the readiness display shows "Insufficient data" — this is expected and means the baseline is still being established.

Rest days are part of the picture. Days without workouts contribute zero load, which is how the system learns the difference between a consistently active routine and a sporadic one.

What the Score Means

The readiness score is a percentage from 0 to 100:

  • Higher scores (above 75%) suggest your body has recovered well and can handle harder or longer sessions
  • Mid-range scores (50–74%) suggest steady, controlled training is appropriate
  • Lower scores (below 50%) suggest your recent load has been high relative to your baseline, and recovery should be the priority

The score updates after each completed workout. A single hard session will lower it; a rest day or light session will allow it to drift back up.

What It Does Not Replace

Exercise readiness is a training-context signal, not a medical assessment. It does not account for nutrition, hydration, stress, illness, or how you subjectively feel. Use it as one input alongside your own judgment — not as a prescription.
